House Rule #2

Through this series of posts I’ll be diving deep into the House Rules I’ve created for ATTN Seattle, and why I believe they’re important to developing a specific kind of community and atmosphere most people actually want in a gym.

House Rule #2 is ACT RIGHT

Do the things we ask and be coachable, after all that is the main point of our business. RSVP for your classes, treat your gym nicely, and acknowledge one another. Don’t yuck other people’s yums- be curious, not judgemental. Leave your ego and issues at the door whenever possible.

Being coachable is important because

  1. Is literally probably why you’re at the gym

  2. It opens the door to growth and improvement

  3. We’re the professionals with the education and experience of why something works or doesn’t.

When you're willing to receive feedback, you allow yourself to learn from others' perspectives and expertise, which can accelerate your progress. Coachability fosters adaptability, helping you adjust to new challenges, refine your skills, and overcome obstacles more effectively. It also promotes a positive attitude toward learning, making it easier to embrace constructive criticism and turn it into actionable change.

If you’ve been around the fitness industry as long as I have then you’ve seen how image-built it really is, and how that facade is really thin and irrelevant when poked at. I’ve said it before and will continue saying it again, but our goal is longevity- for life, for enjoyment, for ability- all of it. You can build on a weak foundation, but don’t be surprised when it fails you. This vicious cycle is all too common and ATTN exists to change the way we think about exercise, training, and skill development.

Our goal is to builds trust in collaboration. We don’t know everything, but we do know a lot. Our aim is to ultimately to help you reach your full potential.

Let us help.
