House Rule #1
Through this series of posts I’ll be diving deep into the House Rules I’ve created for ATTN Seattle, and why I believe they’re important to developing a specific kind of community and atmosphere most people actually want in a gym.

House Rule #1 is PAY ATTENTION
Be mindful of the equipment and space. Say hi and bye to one another. Walk around classes, not through! Lend a hand if someone needs help.
Paying attention is crucial because it allows you to fully engage with the world around you, helping you process information accurately and make thoughtful decisions. This is especially important in a more intimate setting like ATTN Seattle, not just because of the size of the space, but also what happens in the space. With our approach to training it isn’t just about “doing workouts”, but also the why one would do it, how it went, how it felt, and how to improve upon the experience bit by bit.
Paying attention enhances your ability to learn, sharpens your memory, and provides the tools for problem-solving. This in turn makes it easier to understand new concepts, remember details, and apply knowledge effectively. Isn’t that how you break through plateaus and reach new personal records?
In relationships, work, and personal growth, paying attention fosters connection, shows respect, and improves communication. It also helps you stay safe, make good choices, and accomplish tasks more efficiently. Simply put, attention is key to being present and making the most of each moment.
