The ATTN blog!
Arguably the whole democratizing functional fitness started with the CrossFit.com (Moveable Type) blog, where Coach Glassman would just share the Workout of the Day with notes, and athletes who did the workout would use the comments to post their results. This still happens today, and has happened in the past with many affiliates.
Obviously it’s a different era- we all use different journals, spreadsheets, and digital apps to share and record our workouts now. At ATTN Seattle I share the WOD on our Discord, and in the gym on our whiteboard. I’m happy with this and will probably never use an app because 1.) it’s impersonal and lazy- you’ll never remember your work, and 2.) guess who owns that data? Not you, and not the gym so if the business decides to move onto another platform then all of your workout data is gone. Before I dive deeper into a subject that I didn’t plan to write, I wanted to have a place to do just that.
Where do I post information that I think people need to see? Like a column in a newspaper I’d like a place to put some of these ideas, a place to go in on discussions I’ve had with athletes.
This blog will be home to all of that and more, updated infrequently with knowledge important or not, relevant to fitness (or not). Enjoy!
